A 'Ghostbusters' Sequel Will be Happening, Says Sony Exec
Mixed results have come about from Paul Feig's Ghostbusters as it opened in theaters over the weekend, but that was to be expected. Still, Sony executives are adamant that there's more to come from the female-led reboot.
The film opened to $46 million on its opening weekend, becoming the year's biggest live-action comedy, it finished second to The Secret Life of Pets. Despite the climb it has ahead of it to reach its $150 million budget, president of worldwide distribution Rory Bruer has told The Wrap that we can expect a follow-up.
"The Ghostbusters world is alive and well. I expect Ghostbusters to become an important brand and franchise. While nothing has been officially announced yet, there's no doubt in my mind it will happen."
