Batman v Superman Tracking Ahead of Deadpool and Avengers as Release Looms
With hype building, along with the pressure both financially and critically on the DC universe launching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the film is on track for a massive opening. In fact, Ben Affleck believes that Warner Bros. has already won.
"Look, in the broad sense, from a long-term portfolio perspective, Warner Bros. has already won," Affleck said, speaking with LA Times. "They own this vast under-exploited [intellectual property] that is DC. They're going to make all these movies regardless.
"Will every DC movie be great and be successful? No. Would it be good if BvS works for them? Yes, obviously. But if any one of the movies doesn't work, it doesn't mean it all goes away. 'Green Lantern' didn't work, and Green Lantern is going to come back and work for them."
Deadline reports that the film is tracking ahead in advance ticket sales where Deadpool, The Avengers, and Furious 7 at the same point in time (two weeks out from release).
The film could well be on track for the biggest Easter debut ever, perhaps a similar score to The Dark Knight Rises' $160 million. It could also hit between $300-400 million worldwide on opening. The film opens March 25th, which is when we'll know for sure.
