Ben Mendehlsohn to Play the Sheriff of Nottingham in 'Robin Hood: Origins'
Ben Mendelsohn has a major villainous role in this week's release, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. His performance as Orson Krennic will almost certainly sell audiences on his next role, which looks likely to be the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Origins.
Mendelsohn is in talks to play the sadistic villain opposite Taron Egerton as the iconic Robin Hood character. Otto Bathurst is directing, and joins Jamie Foxx, who is playing Little John.
Audiences may begin to identify him as the typecast villain should he continue down that path. And while nobody will be worse off for it, Mendelsohn can probably broaden his horizons in the future.
