Bill Skarsgard will play Pennywise in Stephen King's 'It' Remake

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Bill Skarsgard has been cast as the evil clown Pennywise in New Line's upcoming remake of Stephen King's seminal horror story It. The Hemlock Grove star is in final negotiations to join Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor.

Split into two parts, Andy Muschietti will direct the adaptation, with Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg producing.

The story revolves around a group of teenagers called the Losers Club who defeat a creature referred to as 'It.' The creature returns when the group's members have grown into adults, and forces them to reunite despite having no recollection of their last confrontation. Part 1 will detail the first confrontation, and part 2 the second.

Initially, Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) was lined up to direct, with Will Poulter to play the titular clown. Fukunaga departed for creative reasons, and the production was pushed a year as the studio searched for a new director. This resulted it Poulter departing.
