Bob Iger "Open" to the Possibility of Staying on Past June 2018 at Disney

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Disney CEO Bob Iger has indicated that, while he has "nothing specific to announce at this point," he's open to staying on at the company beyond June 2018. At that point, his current contract expires, and he had been vocal recently in his decision that he'd be leaving after that.

“I’m going to do what’s in the best interest of the company,” he said. While Disney's board is in constant engagement with the looming departure, in its attempt to find a successor, Iger does say that he is "confident that my successor' going to be chosen quickly and chosen well."

Iger's plans were thrown for a bit of a loop when COO Tom Staggs, considered the next man for the job, resigned. In May, he told analysts that he had no plans to stay on beyond June 2018, That being said, many investors do not see the sixteen months between now and then ample time to groom someone for the role.
