Bruce Willis shoots a lot of people in Eli Roth's 'Death Wish'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor The trailer for the remake of Paramount's original bruiser feels a bit bipolar in tone...

"He looked like a white dude" [Laugh track]

MGM's remake of Charles Bronson's 1974 vigilante classic sees Bruce Willis as our family man-turned vigilante, Dr. Paul Kersey, out for vengeance after his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and daughter (Camila Morrone) are brutally attacked. To be exact, MGM's description is a mild-mannered father is transformed into a killing machine after his family is torn apart by a violent act.

By killing machine, we're talking shots fired point blank, from a couch, at a night club, a street alley, along with a beat down by guitar and a gigantic rusty chain. And despite dishing up heaping amounts of vigilante street violence throughout the trailer, the tone shifts from dark and moody to something of a bad-ass action-comedy accompanied by AC/DC's "Back in Black".

"You're cocked, locked, and ready to rock" [Laugh track]

For those who have been keeping score, plans for the Death Wish remake have come a long way since the baton passed from Sylvestor Stallone to Joe Carnahan before finally being handed off to Eli Roth; who like it or not, is more than capable of depicting the kind of bruising, nihilistic violence a film like Death Wish deserves. Whether or not it needs the reboot treatment is an entirely different argument.

Death Wish co-stars Vincent D'Onofrio, Dean Norris, Kimberly Elise, Mike Epps, and Elisabeth Shue and hits theaters November 22, 2017.
