Captain America: Civil War

8.8 based on 9 ratings

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.

Captain America: Civil War (2016) Review

With Captain America: Civil War hitting store shelves finally, I've had a chance to sit down and watch the film Marvel fans raved about all those months ago. This is essentially an outsiders review. A select few people both on Cultjer and off know that I swing more toward the DC side of things (if I had to pick a side), and while tonally the Marvel films don't always agree with me, the Captain America movies have been impressive so far.

Captain America: Civil has an embarrassment of riches that we shouldn't take for granted. It's an incredibly fun romp in spite of its often bleak tone. The work that Kevin Feige and company have put into the creation of this interconnected film universe has paid off massively, better than anyone could have ever hoped.

Civil War

Get your popcorn ready kids becuse civil war is everything that you would expect from a Marvel movie. The stakes are higher in this action packet drama, that follows the Avengers splitting sides due to a new government act. The movie heart focus on Bucky and Steve as they fight to prove that Bucky is innocent of his past crimes. Marvel fans also get to welcome home the one and only Spider-Man. Not much of a surprise to anyone but he stole the show! Another addition was the king Black Panther. His serious mysterious demeanor, gives this team a new dimension. 10/10 Marvel yet again doesn't disappoints. P.S. Two post credit scenes to enjoy!

Will it die out?

Will it die out?

Friday Captain America Civil War will be released around the world to countless comic book fans such as my self. Tickets have been preordered and the prediction in how this movie shapes up the rest of the MCU has begun. In every generation a new genre of movies come and go leaving it's lasting mark on cinema. With our generation being labeled as the spandex era, we find our selfs asking the question...when will it die out? As kids, we were raised with on these characters. Not only did these books capture our imagination but it also made an everlasting impression on our parents. Captain America graced our presents with his first ever appearance in a comic, dated all the way to December 20th 1940. Tony Stark made his first appearance in Tales of Suspense in 1963. These legiondary icons, have had a shelf life as long as classic text books that university's require. Stan Lee, Jack Kirby are just two of a handful of people that created these characters that rival any shakespeare cast list. We are reminded that man can fly, that being different doesn't mean that we should prosecute someone for the fear of the unknown. We are reminded to dream and to use the most important tool that we posses..our imagination. Watching these characters jump from the comic book panels and onto my living room T.V. screen is beyond words. Look how much attention Deadpool has received once we gout our first set photo. Even your grumpy parents have smirked and the wise cracking Spiderman from time to time. These characters and stories take us back to a memory where we wanted to be that hero. Where we wanted to see what happened next week to Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker. How would they ever get out of the situations that they found themselves in? I know one day we might move onto another genre of movies, but until then I am glad that all of these characters and stories will be told. So bring me my yellow and blue spandex with the red and black X symbol and lets embrace the past, present and future of comic book movies.

REVIEW Captain America: Civil War

*Contains Spoilers* — Political interference in the Avengers' activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America and Iron Man. Politics. Rifts. Allies. That basically sums up this take on Civil War fairly well. And replace 'War' with 'Selfish Disputes'. There's little to sink your teeth into despite marketing "OMG ARE YOU TEAM CAP OR TEAM IRON MAN!?" The end result is Team Neither. Two and half hours of bravado and nobody dies. Oh, except Peggy Carter, she dies from old age. SHOCKING! Captain America: Civil War is not a Captain America film. Fact. Early this week the Russo Bros let slip that they feel Civil War was a reaction to Warner Bros announcing Batman v Superman. And it shows, feeling like just another product off the Disney assembly line: safe, cookie cutter fluff. Considering you all tweet and post MCU related memes, fan theories all year round, there wasn't much point in rewatching previous Marvel films before this release, it's everywhere we go, wether we want it or not. It's not comic book movie fatigue, i'm sick of this middle of the road, stale Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers Disassembled. — The long awaited 13th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is finally here. I'll skip the usual synopsis and scene setting preamble and refer you to my recent preview of Civil War (see link below) where that's all covered. That article was written over a month ago and since then we've had the brief reveal of Spider-Man in the final full trailer and that other superhero smack-down, the highly divisive and critically mauled Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The war begins

With DC's Batman V Superman bombing and winning at the box office, Marvel is gearing up for it's third instalment to the Captain America franchise. DC is underway in building their cinematic universe, where Marvel continues it's rain in the box office. Civil War is one of Marvels highly anticipated movie, tearing the team apart as begs the question...who's side are you on? The early reviews are yet again positive. Marvel rarely disappoints these days but than again they did deliver us the first Marvel comic book movie Howard the Duck. This movie will introduce Black Panther and of course our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. On May 6th 2016, we must all decide what side we belong on. Team Captain America or Team Iron Man.

Preparing For War. — **POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT!** My recent retrospective review of Watchmen began with a declaration that we are in the age of the comic book movie, a genre that is currently the most lucrative in Hollywood. Many would state that this trend began at the turn of the millennium with Bryan Singer's X-Men. The subsequent X-franchise that followed was a good investment for Fox and it gave us some truly great films but not without a few mis-steps along the way.

Could Marvel be on the brink of realising the most ambitious Spider-Man film yet? — Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to drop the first full length trailer for Captain America: Civil War but it wasn't long before they turned the conversation to what they would be working on next. Amid jokes that it was hot filming in Atlanta, Downey Jr. said:
