Check Out Ansel Elgort and Kate Mara's Short 'Why Can't We Get Along' Scored by Thom Yorke
Ansel Elgort and Kate Mara’s latest collaboration showcases an aesthetic that blends the effervescent sounds of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke with a dazzling display of ballet, hip hop, and parkour dance.
Why Can’t We Get Along stars Baby Driver’s Ansel Elgort and Meagan Leavey’s Kara Mara in a music video mash-up that’s disguised as a fashion show vignette featuring artists from American Ballet Theater, HipLet Ballerinas, Bulletrun Parkour, and Musical.ly star Kandi Reign.
As part of New York’s illustrious fashion week, fashion label Rag & Bone collaborated with filmmakers Benjamin Millepied, Aaron Duffy, and Bob Partington to film a 'runway short' for industry insiders in place of Rag & Bone’s runway show. According to Rag & Bone’s chief creative director Marcus Wainwright, their latest campaign is really a "phantasmagoric vignette about shifting perspectives" representing not the clothes but rather a “brand that stands for a point of view rather than a specific look.”
The six-minute and thirty-second experimental short is set to an original track by Radiohead's lead vocalist Thom Yorke and features a dizzying display of camera visuals compliments of accomplished DoP Darius Khondji (Lost City of Z, Seven). Together, Mara, Elgort, along with a host of performers representing hip hop, parkour, and ballet put on a dazzling spectacle that serves as a three-dimensional backdrop to Yorke's ultrasonic synth-vibe and Rag & Bone's 'look'.
