Chris Evans to star in Antoine Fuqua’s sci-fi thriller ‘INFINITE’

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Shall we first address the elephant in the room?

Say it with me: life without Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America is going to suck, BIGLY.

At the same time, it should also be said that life after the MCU is shaping up quite nicely for Mr. Evans. At least, that’s my half-assed attempt mentally preparing myself for whatever Joe and Anthony Russo plan to dish out for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. Get the tissues ready.

But remember this. Evans is set to star in a trio of fantastic projects where he’ll get to FLEX some serious acting chops in Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Knives Out, Netflix’s adaptation The Red Sea Diving Resort, and now, a collaboration with Antoine Fuqua in Paramount’s immortal thriller 'Infinite'

Paramount’s thriller is being billed as a ‘tentpole’ adaptation with Evans set to star as the lead character from D. Eric Maikranz’s 2009 novel “The Reincarnationist Papers.”

According to Deadline, Fuqua’s adaptation - which sounds anything like an Antoine Fuqua-helmed project - is based on Ian Shorr’s spec script, which is described as an “ambitious sci-fi in the vein of Wanted meets The Matrix”. The story takes place in a contemporary setting revolving around a schizophrenic (played by Evans) who discovers his hallucinations are actually memories of past lives that he can access as well as the skills he possessed in those time periods. Evans character will lead a group of immortal men and women who are reincarnated over the centuries known as “the Infinite,” against an evil mastermind who wants to destroy the planet.

From the sounds of it, ‘Infinite’ feels more like a cross between The Matrix, FX’s Legion, and Lilly and Lana Wachowski’s Cloud Atlas.

Evans was previously attached to star in Neill Blomkamp's natural disaster thriller Greenland and Antonio Campos’s evil backwoods thriller ‘The Devil All The Time’. Paramount’s “Infinite” has apparently taken high priority for our ageless 37-year-old super stud.

For now, we’ll file this news under in development. With schedules and production still TBD, it’s hard to say who sticks around.
