Crawl Controversy: Star Wars Opening Crawl Creator says "It's Foolish" Rogue One Doesn't Have A Crawl
The opening crawl has been a tradition in Star Wars films since the very beginning. Rogue One breaks tradition. Possibly because it's a start of a new chapter in the storied franchise.
The move not to have a opening crawl was not well received from fans.
When in a interview with THR the creator of the crawl Dan Perri reacted to the decision not to include the crawl.
"Frankly, it is a huge mistake, because the image is so iconic and it’s so important to tens of millions, hundreds of millions of fans. I couldn’t imagine it starting without that. It’s foolish."
This question will continue as more Star Wars Stories are made. The backlash will continue about not having the crawl. There also is evidence that Lucasfilm was working on an alternate beginning to Rogue One that did feature the crawl.
Hopefully Dan Perri gets an opening crawl for the Han Solo: Star Wars Story.
