Cress Williams to Star in the Latest Berlanti CW DC Series 'Black Lightning'
Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie) has been cast as Black Lightning in the CW's newest DC superhero pilot. Williams stays with the network, where "Dixie" airs, and dives into the superhero world. He's spent two decades in television, on shows like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Grey's Anatomy, Prison Break, and Friday Night Lights.
The pilot is based on one of the earliest African-American DC Comics superheroes. Williams will play the titular character Jefferson Pierce, a teacher who retired the cape and cowl years ago before his daughter becomes involved with the criminal underworld, forcing him back into action.
Greg Berlanti executive produces, adding this to Riverdale, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow to his credits.
