Mulan Madness

Disney has been developing a live action version of Mulan. The story of a young Chinese girl who takes her Dad's spot in war to save him. Recently a website called Angry Asian Man posted anonymous information about the Mulan retelling. Then of course the internet freaked out. First things first, Disney wouldn't make a movie called 'Mulan' and not have Mulan as the main character. That's like leading a camel to water and then saying you can't drink any water. The uproar started a hashtag campaign which stopped once it was confirmed Disney wasn't doing that plot. The plot was about a white sailor saving Mulan. This would be a totally different story then the original Mulan. Also Disney is actively searching for an Asian director for Mulan.

'Aladdin' Live Action Reboot Moves Along

Disney has found their director for the live action version of Aladdin. Guy Ritchie (Man from U.N.C.L.E, Sherlock Holmes series) will be directing the Disney classic. John August wrote the script for the film and it will keep most of the musical elements. Dan Lin will be producing the film. Disney touts this will be an ambitious, non-traditional retelling of the story. The story of Aladdin is about a young man who is granted three wishes by a Genie stuck in a lamp and the evil sorcerer who covets the magical object. Aladdin is now on Broadway and is a very successful franchise for Disney.

Disney still has plans for a live action film called Genies which was touted as the possible prequel to Aladdin. Guy Ritchie is just finishing up his King Arthur project at Warner Bros.

Jon Favreau is Creating A Re-Imagined 'The Lion King'

Hot off of the success of The Jungle Book. Disney and Director John Favreau will be teaming once again. This time it will be a re-imagined The Lion King. Before Disney had Frozen they had The Lion King. Favreau did an incredible job with The Jungle Book. It will be interesting to see how the CGI animals and environments look like in this film. Let the Lion King and Jungle Book "same universe" rumors begin!

Adam Shankman Will Direct 'Disenchanted'

Adam Shankman (Rock of Ages, Step Up series) is the director for Disney's Disenchanted. It's a sequel to 2007's animated/live action musical Enchanted. Filming will begin next year for the long awaited sequel. The cast for the original was Amy Adams, Idina Menzel, James Marsden, and Susan Sarandon. The film grossed $340 million worldwide.
