David Ayer to Direct Margot Robbie in All-Female DC Film 'Gotham City Sirens'
David Ayer, the director behind this year's Suicide Squad, will direct and produce Gotham City Sirens for Warner Bros., reteaming with Margot Robbie, who pitched the concept to Warner Bros. in May and will mark her return to the role of Harley Quinn.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Sherlock Holmes 3, Tomb Raider) is penning the script, while Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will direct. The film takes its name from a 2009 series that followed Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Talia Al Ghul predominately.
Suicide Squad was a commercial hit for Warner Bros., if not the critical win the studio would like. Fans might be skeptical about Ayer's return, but he's a talented director who can hopefully get a chance to create a tighter ensemble for his follow-up.
