'Death Wish' Remake from Eli Roth Adds Lead Villain
Beau Knapp has joined Eli Roth's Death Wish remake as the lead villain. This will immediately cause concern for fans of Michael Winner's original, given that the previous film didn't feature a lead villain.
Knapp's character is described as the "main adversary" to Paul Kersey, being played by Bruce Willis. The film will set-up identically to the 1974 film, with Kersey being an ordinary family man whose home is attacked by criminals.
His wife is killed and daughter hospitalized in the original, and Kersey takes to the streets in search of justice and satisfaction. In that film, which Slashfilm describes as a disturbing piece of work, Kersey isn't looking for the culprits. Instead, he's taking things into his own hands and entering bad neighbourhoods, gun in hand.
The new film opens in 2017, and also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Elisabeth Shue, Dean Norris, and Mike Epps.
