Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms Marvel and Star Wars Franchises

Disney CEO Confirms More Star Wars Movies, Marvel Universe Will Live on 'Forever'

ZachPerilstein ZachPerilstein Disney Reporter There was a ten year gap between the last Star Wars and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney CEO Bob Iger previously announced that there will be Star Wars films until 2020. This was also announced for the Marvel Universe. Iger confirmed that both franchise will live on "Forever."

This shouldn't come as a shock, two multi-billion movie franchises will live on forever. There was still some hesitation from the Star Wars fan base that after the New Trilogy(Force Awakens, Episode VIII, and Episode IX), Rogue One, and the other Star Wars Stories, that the franchise would vanish from the big screen. Well that's not the case according to Disney CEO Bob Iger who recently spoke to Newsbeat

"There are five Star Wars films- four more with Episode VII: The Force Awakens- that are in the varying stages of development and production. There will be more after that, I don't know how many, I don't know how often."

The slotted Star Wars schedule is this (subject always due to change*) = Me giving my predictions and assumptions on the schedule.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story- December 16th, 2016

Star Wars: Episode VIII - December 15th, 2017

*Young Han Solo film - December 21st, 2018 (Just a prediction, date not confirmed)

Star Wars: Episode IX - May 24th, 2019 * No way this movie comes out in May, Episode VIII was slated for May release, I'm sure this will be delayed to give them more production time, plus own the Winter box office*

Boba Fett: Star Wars Story - TBD, This Star Wars Story might get pushed back due to production and other stories might come about, but if it does get on production it will be released in 2020.

The Star Wars Saga will continue beyond 2020. Iger confirmed more will be coming.

Now moving onto the Marvel Universe, Here is Disney CEO Bob Iger's comment about the longevity of the franchise.

"Marvel , Your dealing with thousands of characters- that will go on forever"

Marvel has thousands and thousands of characters and stories to choose from. The Marvel vault is endless and will keep growing with time. The current Marvel film slate goes to 2019 but it will continue long after.

Disney believes the audiences won't get "fed up" with Star Wars and Marvel movies. Disney CEO Bob Iger believed that if they keep on raising the bar with storytelling that it will just keep creating excitement with the audience.

Bob Iger didn't mention anything about Stan Lee's wild crossover idea. Bob Iger will remain chairman and CEO of Disney until June 30, 2018.
