Djimon Hounsou and Sam Claflin join Sony's 'Charlie's Angels' reboot

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor How many Bosley’s does it take to reboot Charlie’s Angels?

The answer currently stands at three.

Variety reports Oscar nominated actor Djimon Hounsou and Sam Claflin have joined the cast of Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot.

Claflin, who recently starred in Adrift, has been cast in an undisclosed role reuniting with his former Hunger Games co-star and director/co-writer of Sony’s reboot, Elizabeth Banks.

Hounsou, a man whose Gladiator character could have penned one of the great NYT bestselling self-help books never to be written, is reportedly set to play one of three Townsend Agency lead handlers who go by the name ‘Bosley’. 78-year old Patrick Stewart and Elizabeth Banks are set to play the two other Bosley’s fighting crime alongside the Agency's new era Angels headed out by Kristen Stewart, Aladdin's Naomi Scott, and newcomer Ella Balinska.

If you are questioning Sony’s decision to reboot 2003’s Charlie’s Angels, then it’s a pretty fair bet questioning the decision to go with three Bosley’s was never going to factor into your line of skepticism. That said, Sony's 2019 reboot will transcend both the original tv series and McG’s Angel’s series by expanding the Townsend Agency’s security and intelligence reach on an international scale.

Conventional wisdom says Hounsou, Banks, and Stewart will represent this new Global security agency quite well.

Charlie's Angels is set for release September 27, 2019.
