Six points about: Doctor strange — The newest movie in the renowned and acclaimed Marvel cinematic universe is Doctor Strange. An origin story about a brash and arrogant man who has many riches, due to his brilliance in his field of work, but goes on a revealing journey to an abnormal land in which he discovers how to be a superhero. Damn this movie is similar to Iron man. If it isn’t broke then don’t fix it I guess. Anyway, here is six points about Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange

I was running late for the screening of Marvel’s latest offering, Doctor Strange but I wasn’t too bothered. I was expecting the usual MCU schematic for origin stories and to some extent, that is precisely the end product although there is a welcome deviation from what I know to be the Doctor Strange source material as it offers a refreshing edge to the MCU, a classy aesthetic and most importantly, the rare 2016 sighting of sensible and justified use of CGI.

Doctor, Doctor: Gimme the news - I got a bad case of…“Doctor Strange”. — This film is the latest in a recent series of Marvel mistakes. Benedict Cumberbatch is completely miscast as the easily unlikable Dr. Stephen Strange. He’s an egotistical surgeon doing breakthrough work in the area of nerve regeneration - who’s also had an on-again/off-again relationship with fellow surgeon Christine (played by Rachel McAdams).

Is there a doctor in the house?

Last night I had the pleasure in watching the midnight release of Marvels latest and most impressive visual movie in that of Dr. Strange. What can I say about this movie? Off the bat I need to mention just how visually stunning the movie was. The unique way that the film utilized the surrounding environment as weapons just made the little 12 year old boy in me squee in delight. But before we continue, we need to address the elephant in the room. That is the casting of the Ancient one. We all know about whitewashing in Hollywood and with that I tend to agree with this casting. I love Tilda Swinton! She is a very talented actress and her performance was good in this movie. But I truly believe that they should have casted asian actor in this role. I am convinced that Bennedict Cumberbatch was the perfect actor to land the title role. His cocky demeanor reads well on film. It's refershing to see him bring humor to a role. We are used to him playing characters with heavy hearts. The humor in this film was placed in the correct spots but at times it did ruin the climax of certain action sequences. I can't wait to see how Strange interacts with the rest of the MCU cast. I give this movie a 9/10.

Doctor Strange (2016) - Review

A Kind of Magic. — Here we are with the latest entry into Marvel Studios' on-going series that could rightfully be called Marvel Cinematic Universe 14. Marvel Studios are now churning out on average at least two films a year. The studio is making great efforts to mine from as broad a vein of material as possible from their vast reserves of comic book series that span decades. Last year saw them adapt a far lesser known property in Ant-Man to great effect and then inject that character into this year's Captain America: Civil War and provide arguably that film’s most crowd pleasing moment during the stunning airport battle. The MCU films are now far and away the highest grossing film franchise ever and whilst there are still many detractors and the unnecessary divide between Marvel & DC fans (can’t they all just get along?), the venture has been risky but ultimately a resounding success.
