Eli Roth's 'Death Wish' Remake Lands November Release Date

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor "Never make a death wish, because a death wish always comes true, and you get to love it."

You heard it right. Eli Roth's remake of Charles Bronson's 1974 vigilante classic starring Bruce Willis will hit theaters November 22 and will go up against Disney-Pixar's Coco.

For those who have been keeping score, plans for the Death Wish remake have come a long way since the baton passed from Sylvestor Stallone to Joe Carnahan before finally being handed off to Eli Roth. Whether or not you think the 1974 classic needs the modern touch, it's fair to envision Bruce Willis as our family man-turned vigilante Paul Kersey, out for vengeance after his family is brutally attacked. Accurate to say Eli Roth's brand will not be diminished nor deterred by this subject matter.

Death Wish (2017) is produced by MGM and distributed by Annapurna Pictures; the same team behind Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit. Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Goosebumps, People vs. OJ Simpson) co-wrote the screenplay and the film co-stars include Vincent D’Onofrio, Kimberly Elise, Mike Epps, and Elisabeth Shue.

As all remakes do, they usually shine an even brighter light on the original recipe, which after 43 years is still pretty damn fantastic.
