First Reactions Bode Mixed Results for Fantasy Video Game Adaptation 'Warcraft'
June 10 is not so far away, and yet we haven't seen or heard a whole lot about Warcraft recently. While we can expect that to change over the coming fortnight, the film has screened for select critics, and so far reactions are mixed.
With only 8 reviews listed on Rotten Tomatoes so far, the score is sitting at a 38%. The visual effects are being lauded as the standout element of the film, and in fact the general consensus is that these effects offer more believable and interesting characters than those characters without need for it (ie. the humans).
It seems, based on these reviews, that the story is suffering from simplicity and a desire to set up an entire world while trying to please everybody. As a result, characters seem underdeveloped by the end. In any case, more reviews will come to light in the coming days, and then we can all make up our mind when the film makes its mark.
