First Trailer for 'I Think We're Alone Now' starring Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Peter Dinklage is the last man on earth, until he meets Elle Fanning.

The first trailer for Reed Morano’s Sundance Special Jury winner doesn’t give much away. Which is extremely refreshing given Morano's feature-length debut looks like an endearing post-apocalyptic drama that pivots from the tiresome sub-genre featuring zombies, aliens, and human in-fighting, to a more intimate introspective picture starring two beloved actors - Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning. And based on the teaser, I'm already calling this the spiritual sequel to The Station Agent.

In I Think We're Alone Now, Dinklage stars as Del, a content man who finds himself alone in the world after the human race has been wiped out. But as we are quick to find out he’s not alone, and the voiceover interacting with Del comes from a young girl named Grace, played by Elle Fanning. The brief teaser features gorgeous imagery of Dinklage walking the streets only to discover a car - presumably Grace's - has crashed on the side of the road.

“Weren’t you lonely?” Grace asks. Which Del responds “I felt lonely, when it was me and 1600 other people in this town.”

Much like Dinklage's 2003 indie-drama The Station Agent, I Think We're Alone Now appears to offer a similar through-line about a quiet and withdrawn man who seeks solitude, only to find himself along with a new found happiness through the bonds of friendship.

I Think We’re Alone Now is written by Mike Makowsky and directed by Emmy-winner, Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale). The film will open in limited release September 14 and wide-release (US) on September 21.

Check out the trailer. I Think We're Alone Now looks like an absolute charmer.
