'Flashpoint' Script Finished, Warner Bros. Searching for Directors

ZachPerilstein ZachPerilstein Disney Reporter DCEU is set to adapt its largest comicbook angle to date with Flashpoint. The comic centers around Barry Allen also known as The Flash waking up in an altered DC Universe. Where Bruce Wayne was murdered as a child, which prompts Thomas Wayne to become Batman, and Martha Wayne to become The Joker. Wonder Woman's Amazons are at war with Aquaman's Atlanteans. The DC Universe is changed forever.

This film project originally started off as Flash solo outing. Then it went on to lose four directors. First being Christopher Miller and Phil Lord (seems familiar?), then Seth Grahame-Smith, and lastly Rick Famuyiwa. After losing Famuyiwa the storyline was changed to Flashpoint.

Warner Bros. originally had Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future), Sam Raimi (Spider-Man trilogy), and Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman). Raimi has withdrawn his name from the short list. Zemeckis is still being eyed.

Joby Harold finished the script. No story details have been released at this time. So we don't know if the film will stick to the source material. Although it has been confirmed that Gal Gadot will reprise the role of Wonder Woman. This time not being the normal, hopeful Wonder Woman.

DC Head Geoff John's favorite director is Robert Zemeckis. So it's most likely we will see both sides come to an agreement. Although Variety's Justin Kroll did confirm Warner Bros. is still searching for filmmakers.

I'm personally excited that this film is moving forward. Although the plot Flashpoint seems incredible. Shouldn't you be saving that for when the fans get to know the DC Extended Universe more? The plot does take place after Justice League so maybe by then fans will be excited to explore this alternate universe.
