Game of Thrones: Ian McShane Clues Us In On Who's Returning from the Dead

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Ian McShane has hinted at his role in Game of Thrones on various occasions, but now it seems he's stepped right into the deep end and thrown some big news our way.

The Deadwood star, who just landed a role in the Neil Gaiman adaptation American Gods, said "My character is an ex-warrior who has become a peacenik. So I have this group of peaceful... sort of a cult, a peaceful tribe. I bring back a much loved character who everyone thinks is dead."

While these comments can be interpreted in various ways, more astute fans than I have noted that in the fourth book, A Feast for Crows, Brienne encounters a man called the Elder Brother, who leads a peaceful community called the Quiet Isle. It is a refuge for warriors who wish to cast out the violence of their former lives.

The books have not yet confirmed it, but fans have read between the lines to decipher that one of the island's residents is Sandor Clegane, or The Hound. In the show, he was left for dead after a battle with Brienne. This information just about guarantees that the Hound will be back, and may confirm exciting rumours within the fandom that there lies ahead an inevitable battle between the Clegane brothers, the Hound and the Mountain.
