'Game of Thrones' will End its Sixth Season with the Show's Longest Episode Ever
Game of Thrones is letting us down easy. Ahead of what looks like shortened final seasons following this one, season six will conclude with the fantasy drama's longest ever episode.
The HBO series will stretch its finale out to 69 minutes, taking a leaf out of many other books and giving fans an extended stay before the long wait begins again. The finale will air on June 26.
So far this season, episodes have ranged from anywhere between 50 and 59 minutes long, and the penultimate episode is scheduled for an hour. Episode 9 is titled 'Battle of the Bastards,' while the finale takes its name from the next novel in George R.R. Martin's epic saga with 'The Winds of Winter.'
The director behind one of the show's biggest and best episodes ever, last year's 'Hardhome,' is at the helm for both the ninth and tenth episodes.
