Gareth Evans heads to Sky and Cinemax for 'Gangs of London' series

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Dare I even ask if you will tune into this highly anticipated gang series?

Gareth Evans, filmmaker of our beloved The Raid series is taking his big screen vision to HBO's Cinemax and Sky Atlantic for a gangland drama titled Gangs of London.

The premium network's big budget drama is set in contemporary London and follows the power struggles between international gangs. The series begins as the head of one criminal gang is assassinated and the power vacuum threatens the fragile peace between the other underworld organizations. Gangs of London comes from an original idea spawned by Evans who will be working with Pulse Films - the same studio who produced American Honey and The Witch - for HBO's companion networks.

According to Deadline's exclusive, Evans hopes his new series will bring a “cinematic viewing experience” into U.S and UK homes. “It has been a thrilling experience to leap into longform storytelling, exploring a multicultural world of global crime as it intersects on the streets of London,” he added.

Evans recently wrapped production on his latest period feature Apostle in which a man (Dan Stevens) travels to a remote island and attempts to rescue his sister (Lucy Boynton - SING STREET!) after she's been kidnapped by religious cult (Michael Sheen ) The Raid filmmaker is also attached to direct Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke.

So to recap, Gareth Evans' future projects include Apostle (2018), Deathstroke (2019), and Gangs of London - set to launch 2019.

Not familiar with Gareth’s works? Might I suggest you check out his five minute Pre Vis Short and then head on over for The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2: Berendal.

In Gareth Evans We Trust.
