'Goosebumps' sequel has an official title

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor The Goosebumps sequel will feature a whole lot of SLAPPY.

R.L. Stine made the formal announcement earlier this week on Twitter Happy to announce that filming has begun on the Goosebumps movie sequel. Title: Slappy Halloween. Meanwhile, the new Goosebumps SlappyWorld book has just been published."

Slappy Halloween is based on R.L. Stine’s book series that has sold over 350 million copies and will be the direct sequel to 2015’s American horror comedy starring Jack Black. While it remains to be seen if Black will reprise his role as R. L. Stine, Slappy Halloween will usher in a new slate of young characters you may recognize, including Madison Iseman (Bethany – Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Jeremy Ray Taylor (Ben – Stephen King’s It: Chapter 1), Ben O’Brien (Manchester by the Sea), and Caleel Harris (voices Clyde – The Loud House). Sony also recently announced the additions of Ken Jeong, Wendi McLendon-Covey, and Chris Parnell in roles that have not been specified.

The Duff director Ari Sandel will direct from a script written by Rob Lieber (Peter Rabbit). Interestingly, Variety reported back in December that two scripts have been written; One with Black reprising his role as Stine, while the other has Black cut out entirely. I expect an announcement to be made fairly soon as Slappy Halloween is scheduled to hit theaters on October 12 this year.
