Is Sigourney Weaver set to lead The Expendabelles?
It's only a matter of days before the third instalment in The Expendables franchise hits cinemas, and we are already looking ahead to the possibility of that world expanding even further.
It has been common knowledge that producers of the franchise have looked for new ways to engage its audience after the second movie had a dramatic drop in revenue. The upcoming third movie has a PG-13 rating to increase the scope of the potential viewing audience, as well introducing female characters to the team. It now looks like they are ready to run with the idea of a full female team of Expendables.
Producer Avi Lerner revealed that an all-female version, The Expendabelles is already in the works. Production is set to begin early next year with Sigourney Weaver as the only potential cast member currently in consideration.
