Jennifer Lawrence Signs on for Directorial Debut, 'Project Delirium'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Joining the ranks of Ben Affleck, Angelina Jolie as well as various others, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence has announced her intention to call the shots, and has signed on to direct a dark comedy, based on actual events, called Project Delirium.

"I've signed on to direct something called 'Project Delirium' - it's based on this article about mental warfare in the '60s, like an acid experiment gone terrible wrong," Lawrence explained to Entertainment Weekly.

"It's funny, I've wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps toward that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn't have been ready. Now I actually feel ready."

The specific article she is referring to is a 2012 New Yorker article by Raffi Khatchadourian, which focused on the chemical warfare experiments conducted by Colonel James S. Ketchum at the Edgewood Military facility in Maryland from 1960 to 1969. In this, he tested over 5000 volunteer U.S. soldiers with dangerous 'incapacitating agents' including LSD, BZ and marijuana. It was intended to find a way to neutralize an enemy without killing them. Most of the subjects though were never checked on in later years for lasting mental damage.

Lawrence has her final Hunger Games film out now, and is currently filming Passengers. She has another X-Men appearance yet, so she clearly has no intentions on slowing down.
