Lord of the Rings Writer Joins The Merlin Saga Adaptation

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell In the works for some time, Walk Disney Pictures' big screen adaptation of T.A. Barron's The Merlin Saga had added Academy Award-winning screenwriter Philippa Boyens.

1996's The Lost Years of Merlin was the first of Barron's popular novel series, which is officially described as thus: "A raging sea tosses a boy upon the shores of ancient Wales. Left for dead, he has no memory, no name, and no home. But it is his determination to find out who he is - to learn the truth about his mysterious powers - that leads him to a strange and enchanted land".

Boyens is certainly no stranger to the world of adapted literary fantasy, having worked on all six of Peter Jackson's Middle-earth films.
