When director J.J. Abrams rebooted one of the most iconic franchises in film, he knew the next step wouldn’t be simple either. He wanted his second Star Trek film to be surpass the first one in every way. And while fans will rejoice, regular moviegoers might question if there’s more to see here than a squeaky clean spaceship and tight-fitting uniforms.
