Max Steiner

Not necessarily the most well known, but Austrian composer Max Steiner has created some of films most iconic themes. Casablanca, King Kong and Gone With The Wind are some of his most recognisable tunes. He is also considered one of the forefathers of movie scoring, as he began penning music for film ever since sound was played alongside the moving image. Before his death in 1971, he had a staggering 242 composer credits.
