Michael B. Jordan to star in Lionsgate's hitman series 'The Silver Bear'

Michael B. Jordan is about to add ‘deadly assassin’ to his promising film resume.

Deadline confirmed Jordan has signed on to play the central character in Derek Haas’ assassin series “The Silver Bear.”

Haas’ "The Silver Bear," the first of three books published in 2008, follows the underworld’s most respected and feared hitman who goes by the name Columbus. Known for his natural killing instincts, “Silver Bear” as the Russians call him, faces the ultimate test when his next mark happens to be the Democratic nominee for the United States Presidency, and his estranged father.

Up and coming screenwriter Frank Baldwin will adapt the screenplay with Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society co-producing with Nickel City Pictures. Lionsgate will distribute, making Haas’ hitman series a possible successor franchise to John Wick.

After scanning a few reviews, I’m hoping Baldwin’s screenplay manages to shed some light on the hitman’s use of a ::sewing machine:: as one of his legendary kill methods. I mean, that certainly has to be up there with the Babayega’s pencil?

Should be interesting to see who Jordan’s producing team chooses to Direct. On paper, this sounds like a winner.
