And on the sixth day, God made his one mistake – He created man. This is according to the brilliant Darren Aronofsky, whose ‘mother!’ turns out to be the most fascinating exploration of God’s relationship with man. The catch here is, this relationship is scrutinized with some scorn and disdain through the lens of mother nature and it unravels into a weighty misanthropic and admittedly demented parable justifying the backlash and controversy that enveloped it.
mother! - Movie Review
Wow, this film is tough to put into words. Here's the most vague review of the most controversial, thought-provoking film of 2017... Here's my take on Darren Aronofsky's newest artwork, "mother!'
I can’t tell you whether or not you should see “mother!” What I can do is point-out those who absolutely should not see director Darren Aronofsky’s controversial psychological thriller:
Darren Aronofsky's 'mother!' is a fantastical rollercoaster (TIFF review)
Director Darren Aronofsky delivers a quite stunning and refreshing take on the traditional horror story. But one that's definitely not for everyone. — Like any rollercoaster ride, the story of 'mother!' starts simple. A loving couple live in a remote old house. She (Jennifer Lawrence) is remodeling the house while he (Javier Bardem) writes. Or at least, he wants to. He's been without inspiration for some time, and subsequently getting frustrated with her as well.
