Netflix Greenlights 80's Female Wrestling Comedy from 'Orange is the New Black' Creator

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Netflix has greenlit comedy series 'G.L.O.W., a comedy based on the 1980's female wrestling league. Jenji Kohan will executive produce.

The 'Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, shortened to 'G.L.O.W.,' was a popular professional wrestling troupe on a self-titled show that ran from the mid-80's to 1990. It also toured for live shows.

The series will fictionalise the story of an out-of-work actress who finds an opportunity in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers. It will be set in LA and is described as a showcase of "big hair and body slams."

Kohan continues her female-centric storytelling, following on from her still-ongoing female prison drama Orange is the New Black. The series is created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who will both serve as showrunners.

10 episodes have been ordered of 'G.L.O.W.' though there is no production date, casting, or premiere date listed.
