'Passengers,' 'The Imitation Game' Director to Helm Amazon Series, 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan'
Oscar-nominated director Morten Tyldum, who has released The Imitation Game and most recently Passengers, will direct the pilot episode of Amazon's straight-to-series drama titled Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. The series hails from Lost's Carlton Cuse and writer Graham Roland. It's also being produced by Platinum Dunes, Skydance Media, and Paramount TV.
The reinvention of the Jack Ryan mythos will star John Krasinski and Abbie Cornish, and will approach the character with a modern sensibility. Krasinski plays Ryan, and up-and-coming CIA analyst who is thrust into a dangerous assignment for the first time. Ryan will uncover a pattern in terrorist communication as the series wears on, leading to major discoveries at the center of a global-scale terrorism branch.
Tyldum's Oscar nomination was gifted for The Imitation Game. He has also been tapped to helm the first two episodes of Starz series Counterpart, a sci-fi thriller.
