Paul Dano in Talks for 70s Thriller 'The Englishman'
British production group Working Title is negotiating with Paul Dano for a starring role in a developing hitman film titled The Englishman, with Edward Berger at the helm to direct.
The project comes from a spec script written by Luke Garrett, and is set in Stasi, East Germany's infamous Ministry for State Security. Reportedly, Dano will play an ambitious Stasi officer who gets a chance to climb the ranks by unmasking a peerless assassin called The Englishman, the identity of whom no one knows.
Berger is currently shooting a pilot for The Terror for AMC and Scott Free, while Dano is in the midst of his directorial debut titled Wildlife, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal.
