Rebecca Ferguson joins the cast of The Shining Sequel 'Doctor Sleep'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Rebecca Ferguson will star alongside Ewan McGregor in Warner Bros. adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘Shining’ sequel Doctor Sleep!

Variety confirms the 34-year-old actor has been cast in an undisclosed role joining McGregor who is set to play Danny Torrance aka "Doctor Sleep."

King’s follow-up to The Shining picks up decades after the horrific events that took place at the Overlook. A now middle-aged Danny Torrance (McGregor) has found his life’s purpose providing comfort to the dying using his telepathic abilities. Along the way Danny, or “Doctor Sleep” as he is coined, befriends a young girl possessing the same ‘shining’ powers whose extraordinary gifts are sought after by a group of quasi-immortals with direct connections to the infamous Overlook Hotel.

It should be interesting to see if they cast Ferguson as the quasi-immortals central leader, Rose the Hat. Either way, I'm 100% onboard with this casting choice.

Warner Bros. adaptation will be directed by Gerald’s Game director Mike Flanagan and written by Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, The Dark Tower).

In the spirit of never enough - I can't get enough of Rebecca Ferguson, who will be seen in Mission Impossible - Fallout late July.

Doctor Sleep is confirmed for a January 24, 2020 release, four short months after Andy Muschietti’s It: Chapter 2!
