'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Following in 'Suicide Squad' Footsteps, Headed for Expensive Reshoots

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story set for release at the end of the year, it seems there's more shooting to do before anything can even start heading toward finalisation.

Pagesix sources report that the film requires substantial reshoots. In the sources words: "The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and Rogue One will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July."

Director Gareth Edwards has already delivered the film's final cut, but it seems as though the film isn't testing as well as they'd hoped. “Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well.”

A Disney source added further insight. “The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off ‘The Force Awakens,’ there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

Edwards will be attending Star Wars Celebration Europe in July along with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, so there's no guarantee that these are 100% accurate. Though we can trust that there will be some additional shooting happening shortly.
