Sebastian Stan replaces Chris Evans in Netflix's evil backwoods thriller 'THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor This headline screams love/hate.

With Chris Evans previously committed to star in Neill Blomkamp’s Greenland, Antonio Campos’ The Devil All The Time, Antoine Fuqua’s Infinite, Apple’s streaming series Defending Jacob and Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, you knew it was simply a matter of time until one or two of these projects would eventually fall through.

According to Deadline, such was the case with Blomkamp’s natural disaster thriller and now Netflix's latest original, The Devil All The Time.

Enter Sebastian F-N Stan!

The 36-year-old Avenger will replace his longtime cast mate and good buddy, Chris Evans. Evans was previously set to play a corrupt sheriff in Donald Ray Pollock's 2011 novel billed as a “literary tsunami of pure evil”. Pollock's novel spans two decades telling an “unnuanced tale” featuring a cast of compelling and bizarre characters set in the backwoods of rural Ohio. From what we know, Tom Holland will play Arvin Russell, the orphaned and often bullied son of tormented WWII vet father Willard and his dying mother Charlotte.

While ‘Devil’ doesn’t boast the A-list cast of Dune or Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, it’s worth noting Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories Production has assembled an incredible cast featuring Robert Pattinson, Mia Wasikowska, fellow Avenger Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgard, Eliza Scanlen and Jason Clarke. It’s unknown which characters Pattinson, Wasikowska, Skarsgard, Scanlen, and Clarke are in line to play, but it’s a good bet Clarke will play Willard Russell, and one or two will land on the eccentric husband-wife serial killing team or the town's spider-handling preacher.

Writer, director, and producer Antonio Campos (Christine, The Sinner) will direct from a script co-written by his brother Paulo.

Netflix has yet to announce a production or distribution date. As I said before, hopefully this project continues full steam ahead considering the current cast!
