Patrick Stewart set to play Bosley in Sony's 'Charlie's Angels'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot has found their Bosley.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed Sir Patrick Stewart will play the Townsend global security group’s lead handler, Bosley a/k/a Bos!

The 78-year-old ageless wonder will fight crime alongside the Townsend Agency's new era of modern Angels headed out by Kristen Stewart, Aladdin's Naomi Scott, and newcomer Ella Balinska.

Elizabeth Banks is set to direct from a script co-written by Jay Basu (The Girl in the Spider’s Web). Sony's 2019 reboot is said to focus on the Townsend Agency, which has now gone global “providing security and intelligence services to a wide variety of private clients with offices and highly trained teams worldwide”.

In an era that's ushering female-led reboots and spin-offs (Ghostbusters, Oceans 8), I will say ‘Angels’ feels slightly different since it marks the first time a female-led American action film or any female-led film for that matter has been rebooted with all female leads and with a female writer/director. That counts for something.

Charlie's Angels is set for release September 27, 2019.
