Stephen King, J.J. Abrams' 'Castle Rock' Lands Series Order on Hulu

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Hulu is the latest studio or network to give its viewers a taste of Stephen King's world with the Original drama series Castle Rock, which hails from J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, Warner Bros. Television, and executive producers and writers Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason. This time around, the vision is much more ambitious, not settling to adapt a single King novel but creating a multiverse of sorts in which his body of work coexists.

Ten episodes have been ordered for season one, and production will kick off this year. A short teaser was released on February 17 for the upcoming series:

Castle Rock Teaser trailer

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: “Cujo,” “The Dark Half,” “IT” and “Needful Things,” as well as novella “The Body” and numerous short stories such as “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption” are either set there or contain references to Castle Rock. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.

The collaboration marks the second for Hulu, King, Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television, following 11.22.63, the event series based on the King novel.
