Stephen King's 'It' Adaptation to Take Cues from 'Stranger Things'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell In the wake of stellar reviews and audience reception to Netflix's Stranger Things, it seems the powers at the head of the upcoming It adaptation are looking to popular, nostalgia-soaked stories for inspiration.

"I think a great analogy is actually Stranger Things, and we're seeing it on Netflix right now," producer Dan Lin said.

"It's very much an homage to '80s movies, whether it's classic Stephen King or even Spielberg. Think about Stand By Me as far as the bonding amongst the kids."

But there is a really scary element in Pennywise." On Bill Skarsgard as the titular freak, Lin says "he's really tall and lanky, and feels a little clown-like in his movement."

Noting performances like Heath Ledger's Joker, Lin is adamant that they are aiming for their own unique take on this type of character.
