Terrence Malick's 'Voyage of Time' to see IMAX debut this fall

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time is finally getting a release, set for arrival in theatres October 7, 2016. With music composed by Ennio Morricone, the documentary is one of Malick's longest-gestating films, ambitiously exploring time, space, and life itself.

The official description is as follows: VOYAGE OF TIME is a celebration of the universe, displaying the whole of time, from its start to its final collapse. This film examines all that occurred to prepare the world that stands before us now: science and spirit, birth and death, the grand cosmos and the minute life systems of our planet.

The film was first announced seven years ago, spawned from footage from Malick's The Tree of Life. Throughout the years, small changes and hints to the concept behind the documentary have come about, and in that time Malick completed three full feature films.

Malick last year revealed two versions of the film, a 40-minute cut narrated by producer Brad Pitt, and a feature-length version narrated by Cate Blanchett. The shorter cut will debut in IMAX in October, though there's no word on when the full thing will arrive.
