'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' First Look Photos
We finally have our first look at Sabrina the teenage witch!
Netflix's darker coming-of-age story follows Mad Men darling Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman - the brave half-human, half-witch - who is just beginning her education as a sorceress. Netflix unveiled 2 first look photos to generate excitement before fans get a peek at the official trailer.
One of the two Twilight-esque images features Sabrina along with her Aunt’s, Zelda (Miranda Otto) and Hilda Spellman (Lucy Davis) in the woods opposite a character named Father Blackwood played by Richard Coyle. Based on initial appearances, Sabrina looks to be on the friendly end of a coven ritual. But from what we know about Father Blackwood, he is the ruthless High Priest of the Church of Night and Dean of the Academy of the Unseen Arts who is hiding a terrifying agenda. For now, we'll caption that photo with #KneelbeforeBlackwood. Check out both photos below!
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be a complete reimagining of 1971's original comic book series but will be adapted based on Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer, Robert Aguirre-Sacasa 2014 American comic book series of the same name. Aguirre-Sacasa serves as the showrunner for The CW's hit Riverdale also based on the Archie Comic series. For now, characters from Aguirre's Riverdale and Sabrina will stay within their respective city limits as there are currently no crossover plans with Sabrina's production move from The CW to Netflix.
The series will also feature a host of characters from 2014's comic series, including Sabrina's boyfriend Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), favorite teacher "Evangeline Porter" - who's secretly out for revenge against the Spellman family under the disguise of "Madam Satan" (Michelle Gomez). The Chilling Adventures will also feature Sabrina's best friend Rosalind Walker (Jaz Sinclair) and cousin Ambrose Spellman (Chance Perdomo), along with Sabrina's trusted adviser Salem the cat, who I’m guessing will be CG.
