'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' First Trailer
Netflix's dark coming-of-age story stars Mad Men darling Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman - half-witch half-mortal teenager - who is about to embark on her education as a sorceress now that she is turning sweet sixteen!
The brief 40-sec trailer doesn’t reveal a ton but the darkly lit scenes cast a bewitching spell featuring covens and satanic rituals, and a truly haunting horned demonic figure that makes Black Phillip look like a huggable barnyard animal.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be a direct adaptation of Robert Aguirre-Sacasa’s 2014 American comic book series of the same name. Aguirre-Sacasa currently serves as the showrunner for Archie Comics Riverdale series, and with Sabrina, Sacasa will expand the Archie-verse into Greendale city limits for, at the very least, two 10-episode season runs. Unfortunately neither show is expected to cross-over for the time being.
The series will also feature a host of characters from 2014's comic series, including Sabrina's boyfriend Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), her favorite teacher "Evangeline Porter" - who's secretly out for revenge against the Spellman family under the disguise of "Madam Satan" (Michelle Gomez). The Chilling Adventures will also feature Sabrina's best friend Rosalind Walker (Jaz Sinclair) and cousin Ambrose Spellman (Chance Perdomo), along with Sabrina's trusted adviser Salem the cat, who I’m guessing will be CG.
All ten episodes drop October 26!
