'The Walking Dead' and 'Fear the Walking Dead' crossover character confirmed!

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor It was two short months ago, Robert Kirkman announced AMC's popular zombie apocalypse dramas The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead would receive the crossover treatment with "one character going from one show to another."

Back in October, series creator Robert Kirkman made the big announcement at The Walking Dead's New York Comic Con panel teasing “there are two Walking Dead shows. I’m not going to name them. But there are two. There’s one character that is going to go from one show that I will not name and appear in the other show, which I will not name.” After months of speculation, we received our answer that none other than Lennie James' Morgan would be joining Fear the Walking Dead's fourth season as a series regular.

The announcement was made during Sunday's episode of the Talking Dead. Host Chris Hardwick read a message from The Walking Dead showrunner Scott E. Gimple sharing, “Even though Morgan is going to be featured on Fear, he still has a lot of story left on The Walking Dead.” Gimple also shared “Morgan’s arc on The Walking Dead season 8 positioned him for the story on Fear. It was also important too see Fear’s world and characters through new yet familiar eyes.”

While we finally have an answer about the who, we can now turn our speculative attention to when and where Morgan will appear during Fear the Walking Dead's timeline. Kirkman's original cross-over announcement teased whether or not fans will see a "future version of a character" or "something completely different". What we do know is the current season of Fear the Walking Dead takes place roughly around season 1 and 2 in The Walking Dead according to Kirkman. With those timelines in mind, we also know Morgan does not resurface until his reunion with Rick during The Walking Dead season 3, giving us one to two seasons of backstory on Morgan's whereabouts.

Based on Fear the Walking Dead's October finale, we could see Morgan meet up with Madison (Kim Dickens) - who was last seen swept away from the Dam's explosion - or perhaps with Fear's new hero/villain duo in Proctor John (Ray McKinnon) and Alicia Clark (Alycia Debnam-Carey) who planned to set sail for "what's left of Houston." Or perhaps Morgan crosses paths with Luciana (Danay García) last seen leaving the ranch alone, or maybe he meets up with Walker and Crazy Dog heading 'north'?! The possibilities are endless.

Coincidentally - or not - the announcement for Morgan's grand entrance into Fear the Walking Dead comes the day before the zombie apocalypse sister show kicks off production today in Austin Texas. Fans can live stream Lennie James’ first day on the set of Fear the Walking Dead Season 4, visit Fear the Walking Dead on Facebook or Twitter Monday, November 27 at 4/3c.

Season 4 Fear the Walking Dead will usher in new showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss, who will take the reigns from Dave Erickson. Actors, Garret Dillahunt (Raising Hope) and Jenna Elfman (Dharma and Greg) will join Season 4 expected to debut mid-2018.
