Third Tron Movie Could Be Called 'Tron: Ascension'

JamesArthurArmstrong JamesArthurArmstrong Disney has yet to officially confirm the development or imminent shoot of a third Tron film, but the rumours and reports about the movie keep circulating, with news of its name now making the rounds.

The first report came around two weeks back when rumours that filming will begin on a third Tron movie in October with Garrett Hedlund set to reprise his role, with Joseph Kosinski seemingly returning to direct. It then became more apparent that something regarding a third Tron movie was in the works when musician Giorgio Moroder said that he would be doing work with Skrillex on music for a new Tron video game. He said, "I’m going to meet Skrillex next week when I’m back. I’m doing the music for a game for Disney’s ‘Tron’. We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs."

With those tidbits of information pointing towards a new Tron movie, a report has emerged that hints at a possible name for the film. This information comes from Production Weekly, via Rope of Silicon, which says "Joseph Kosinski’s Tron: Ascension is planning to film in Vancouver from Early-October 2015 through to February 2016.

All things considered, it is interesting that Disney has reframed from handing out an official press release regarding this obvious new movie. Kosinski said in 2013 they they were developing script for a third Tron. He said, “the fundamental idea of the movie is something I’m very excited about, it delivers on the ideas that we set up in Legacy, especially at the end in the last five minutes.”
