Tonight's Oscars to Introduce 'Thank You' Scroll Across Bottom of the Screen

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell In an effort to speed up proceedings, and allow for winners to truly speak from the heart, the Academy will starting this year feature a thank-you list scrolling across the bottom of the screen, highlighting those the winner would like to acknowledge.

Nominees have been asked to submit a list of those they'd like to thank should they win tonight, and those names will appear not unlike the cable news scroll we see highlighting news updates.

Producer David Hill had this to say: “Acceptance speeches have become a list of names and more often than not, time ran out before something could be spoken from the heart about the art, about the vision, about the experience, about the meaning of the moment.

"We needed to rethink how this could be a better experience for everyone."
