Trailer: Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves reunite in Victor Levin's 'Destination Wedding'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Disclaimer - Yes, I am fully aware Destination Wedding will inevitably feature a mashup of decades-old rom-com tropes. And no, this film does not appear to be a genre defining game changer. But it stars Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, so I am giving this one a bit of leniency. Like, a lot.

'Destination Wedding' Trailer

The trailer for Victor Levin’s ‘Destination Wedding’ wastes no time introducing us to Frank (Reeves) and Lindsay (Ryder), two beautiful loners, who also happen to be traveling to the same destination wedding neither care to be at. We’ve all been there right? Of course the journey to forming the likeliest of romances starts with a series of unpleasant exchanges between the two misanthropic outcasts. Seriously though, the chemistry between Reeves and Ryder here is undeniably adorable.

Wedding marks the fourth collaboration between Reeves (56) and Ryder (46), who co-starred in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee back in 2009 and Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly in 2006. It was twenty-five years ago the two first shared screentime in Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). At the time, Reeves - then 28 - was fresh off Kathryn Bigelow's Point Break and Ryder - then 21 - was two years removed from Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. My how time flies!?

Check out the trailer and be prepared to be charmed. Destination Wedding opens August 24
