Travis Knight will direct Warner Bros.’ film adaptation 'Six Billion Dollar Man'

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Travis Knight to the rescue!

After being stuck in development for the better part of 25 years, Mark Wahlberg’s ‘Six Billion Dollar Man’ may have finally turned the corner.

Now that the dust has settled, Warner Bros.’ recently acquired Six Billion Dollar Man, appears to be inching closer to pre-production with the hiring of Travis Knight, lead animator at Laika Studios and most recently, director of Paramount’s little Transformers movie that could, Bumblebee.

The two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker will direct from a script written by Bill Dubuque (The Accountant). Warner Bros. film is said to be based on ABC’s long-running television series starring Lee Majors. Sources say Mark Wahlberg is still on board to play the title role - Steve Austin - a former astronaut who, after suffering a terrible accident, is rebuilt as a “better…stronger…faster” government secret agent who also possesses superhuman strength due to his bionic enhancements.

As someone who is a fan of Knight’s work, I have no doubt he can turn the series based on the Martin Caidin novel Cyborg into gold. However, I’m not totally sold on the fact we need this.
