Tyler Posey joins the cast of MTV's SCREAM Season 3

GregHarmon GregHarmon Managing Editor Awesome news if you're a fan of Posey or Scream the tv series (season 1 - we'll ignore season 2)

As Teen Wolf's celebrated six-season run comes to an end, MTV announced the show's star, Tyler Posey will join the cast of MTV's Scream season 3.

THR got the scoop that the Viacom-owned cable network signed Posey for season three of what will be a soft reboot that will go in fresh direction, with an unconnected story and a whole new cast. The only thing in common? Ghostface. And unlike seasons 1 and 2, we'll see the return of the original Ghostface mask.

Scream season three will consist of six episodes and will follow Deion Elliot (RJ Cyler - Power Rangers, Me, Earl, & the Dying Girl), a local star running back whose tragic past comes back to haunt him at the worst time, threatening his hard-earned plans for his future — and the lives of his unlikely group of friends. The 25 year-old Posey will play the role of Shane, a high school drop-out who is described as a hustling "drug dealer and party promoter" who beneath the exterior, has more to share than anyone realizes.

Rounding out the cast are Keke Palmer (Scream Queens), Giorgia Whigham (13 Reasons Why), Jessica Sula (Recovery Road, Skins), Giullian Yao Gioiello (Julie's Greenroom), Tyga (aka Michael Ray Stevenson) and C.J. Wallace (Notorious).

The new series will be helmed by Brett Matthews (The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural), the franchise's third showrunner alongside new executive producer Queen Latifah and original executive producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein for Dimension TV, the late Wes Craven, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad.

Scream's six-episode third season will air as a three-night event TBA for March 2018 on MTV.

You pumped? I am.
